Mrs. Akhila Narayanaswamy

Sister of Mrs. Lakshmi Krishnamoorthy, Mrs. Narayanaswamy received her classical vocal training from Sri Shankaranarayanan, a gottuvadyam player and AIR artiste, Sri Nellai Mani, a violinist and Sri T.K. Govinda Rao.  She later learnt bhajans under Smt.  Kamala Sarathy of Chennai.  Singing has been her passion and bhajans, her forte. Mrs. Narayanaswamy has dedicated her life and energy to the propagation of our culture and tradition through bhajans. She has left an indelible mark on many a mind. She has inspired many people to form Bhajan Mandalis (groups) which play an important role in spreading our culture and heritage in India and abroad.  Mrs. Narayanaswamy is currently the Managing Trustee of Sri Ramakrishna Sarada Educational Trust, Trichy, India.

Mrs. Lakshmi Krishnamoorthy

Born into a family of musicians and music lovers, (the late) Mrs. Krishnamoorthy received her Carnatic vocal music training from Sri Parur Sundaram Iyer, Sri Trichy Swaminatha Bhagavatar, Sri Calcutta K.S. Krishnamurthy, and Sri T.K.Govinda Rao.  As an All India Radio artiste, Mrs. Krishnamoorthy gave several concerts in Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.  For over 10 years, she gave vocal accompaniment for classical dance for Mrs. Ramya Hari Shankar of Los Angeles. Mrs. Krishnamoorthy was passionate about singing bhajans for more than 30 years. Her support for the Mandali continued through all of her years from her home in Los Angeles. We wish to continue her work with the same dedication and enthusiasm as she showed for several decades.

 Mrs. Bala Narasimhan

Hailing from a family where classical music was more of a passion and hobby, Mrs. Bala Narasimhan has had the privilege of being nourished in a musical environment from herearly childhood. She had the good fortune of learning classical music from Sri Calcutta Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar and Sri Calcutta K.S. Krishnamurthy, in particular.   Her love for music found expression in learning bhajans from Mrs. Lakshmi Krishnamoorthy and Mrs. Akhila Narayanaswamy opening the doors to spirituality through music.  She dedicates most of her time teaching classical carnatic and devotional music to adults and children. Mrs. Narasimhan resides in Ottawa, Canada, but many of her students now reside in the United States.

Natana Valiveti currently teaches and leads bhajans in the SF Bay Area with the help of Rajashri Iyengar & Shailaja Dixit.
